Somewhere Over The Rainbow
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Ιt’s a sunny day in a beautiful small town, where Sunny and Cloudy decide to start a rainfall in order to bring back Iris, the rainbow. Cloudy teaches her children, the raindrops and Prism, how a rainbow is formed. Raindrops should start the rainfall by falling down and Prism should be the last one to fall. As Cloudy ordered, it starts to rain. Suddenly, the wind blows and clouds are covering Sunny. Iris cannot be formed without the presence of the sun. Prism starts falling and cannot form Iris. So, Prism gets trapped in a dark place. Will Prism get through this and form the rainbow in time?
Somewhere Over The Rainbow (2023 - 2024) is a 2D Single-player Puzzle Video Game for PC inspired by:
- “Baba Is You” Video Game by “Arvi Teikari” & “MP2 Games”
- “Hue” Video Game by “Henry Hoffman”, “Dan Da Rocha” & “Fiddlesticks Games”
I designed and developed this video game as a part of my thesis for my studies (bachelor’s degree) at “Digital Systems” Department of “University of Piraeus” under the supervision of Mr. Simeon Retalis, Professor at the Department of “Digital Systems” of the “University of Piraeus”.
Built in Unity using C#, the game challenges players to escape a series of tile-based levels by reaching the goal flag. Using a color palette mechanic, players can change the visibility of objects in the environment — such as walls, lakes, background and grass — by matching their color to the background.
Strategic thinking and timing are essential, as players have limited time and lives to complete each level, avoid traps, and overcome magical effects that disrupt their perception of color.
This video game is intended for players aged 6 and above and was created for educational purposes. However, it is fun to play for all ages as it features unique and intricate puzzles. You think you can make it? Download "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" now!

Wow, very polished! Even the landing page! Great art style! Your UI/UX makes great use of bright colors, large fonts and outlined shapes. The difficulty was just about right -- not too hard and not too easy. I only had to start all over once. The only improvement I would recommend is a timer to let the player know how long the rainbow flasks stun them for. Really enjoyed this! Let me know if you need a play-tester for any future games of yours.

That’s an interesting suggestion about the timer! I actually designed it this way on purpose—I wanted players to think carefully about their next move instead of relying too much on exact timing.
